Once professional training is completed, mystery shoppers will also be evaluated through examinations, mainly theory tests. Uniform certification will be granted to qualified ones. One can become a mystery shopper only by passing examination and receiving certification, which serves as a career access threshold of “mystery shoppers”, and as a guarantee to the professionalism and service quality of mystery shopper to a certain degree.
Certification of mystery shoppers can also refer to experiences of foreign countries. For instance, MSPA (Mystery Shopper Provider Association) has initiated “gold certificate” and “silver certificate”. According to the recent announcement of MSPA website 4, 7500 people have been granted “silver certificate” worldwide, and 2500 “gold certificate”. The setting of certification is to help mystery shoppers better master most updated study techniques and improve their personal quality.
There’s no uniform certification system in China, therefore, many companies need MS study are dubious regarding the study quality. Although they’ve recognized the feasibility of this method, they still have second thought when choose MS companies, which hampers the overall MS study industry development to a large extent.
